1. Sacred Night
One night, my Arapaho dad took me to an all night tipi ceremony. In watching the fire and listening to the drumming and singing, I went from a place of inner turmoil, to being filled with joy and gratitude for my life.

2. Dawn
My Navaho mom told me that the stillness just before dawn is a good time to talk to creation. My words to Creation are about experiencing life with as much vitality as possible, and surrendering the distractions of bodily pain, negative thoughts, and troubled emotions so that I might start each day fresh.

My own treasured memories of childhood times on an island in Scotland were rekindled by this story of one man’s deep love for his homeland.

5. One is the Sun
After I visited Prophecy Rock on the Hopi reservation, I was inspired by one of their prophecies, which talks about the choice we have to either live in balance with nature, or risk the destruction of civilization as we know it.

8. Winds of Time
I awoke one morning from a nostalgic dream of someone I was once very close to. As I sat there thinking of the person and of the times past, I wondered if people who were once so close to us could somehow sense when we thought intensely of them.

9. By Your Side
Many of my friends were getting married. Their joy reminded me of the purity of feeling which new love can bring.

10. Tha Mi Sgith (A Faerie Love Song)
When I heard this Celtic faerie love song, I could imagine coming upon a ring of faeries dancing in the middle of a dark forest, with a lone tormented faerie in the center lamenting her hopeless love for a mortal.

I wrote this song for someone dear to me, hoping to remind him that how we choose to perceive things can have an effect on the quality of our life.

12. A-Hay, A-Ho (Thank You in Arapaho)
This prayer to the four directions came to me early one morning after an all-night tipi ceremony. It combines elements from the stories and wisdom told to me by my Arapaho dad and other Native American relatives.
